Cranial Sacral Therapy
Reset the body. Reconnect your mind.
Craniosacral Therapy
Soothe your nervous system. Ease deep tension. Reconnect with yourself.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a deeply calming and restorative treatment that uses gentle touch to release tension in the body and support the nervous system. Working with the body's natural rhythms, I use light, sustained holds on areas like the head, sacrum, and spine to help unwind physical and emotional holding patterns — often creating a sense of lightness, ease, and space.
What Does Craniosacral Therapy Mean?
Cranio = Head | Sacral = Base of Spine
“Cranio” refers to the cranium (head), and “sacral” to the sacrum (the bone at the base of your spine). These areas are connected by the nervous system, fascia, and cerebrospinal fluid. In CST, we often focus on these two points — but we may work anywhere in the body to release restrictions, because everything is connected.
Why We May Work Beyond the Head and Sacrum
Though the name highlights the cranium and sacrum, we treat the whole body. Tensions in your legs, arms, or abdomen may be contributing to nervous system strain. Using light, respectful contact, we follow what the body shows us — not just the label on the treatment.
How Does Craniosacral Therapy Work?
CST uses light touch — about the weight of a 20p coin — to encourage subtle movement in the tissues and fluids of the body. Think of it like gently untwisting a wrinkled shirt or letting a tight rubber band slowly soften. Sometimes we gently guide tissues; other times we simply hold and listen, giving your body time and space to recalibrate.
The Body’s Inner Wisdom
A key principle of CST is that your body already knows how to heal. We’re not “fixing” you — we’re supporting your body’s own healing intelligence. We call this the "inner physician" — the quiet wisdom inside that knows what’s needed. My role is to create space, listen, and respond to that guidance.
What Do We Actually Treat?
CST can be used as part of general wellness or to support specific issues — from stress and migraines to joint stiffness, digestive issues, and chronic pain. It can also be profoundly helpful for emotional tension, anxiety, and sleep problems.
It’s suitable for almost everyone — including older adults wanting to maintain mobility and fascia health, or anyone recovering from injury or stress. It supports the body’s natural healing, often working in layers over time. You may notice improvements in the reason you came — and sometimes in other areas you’d forgotten were bothering you too.
CST influences multiple body systems, including:
The nervous system
Digestive function
Breathing patterns
Hormonal balance
Movement and coordination
Emotional resilience
Many clients first try it after someone says, “I’m not quite sure what they do, but it really helped my [fill in the blank]!”
What Does a Session Feel Like?
Think of how you feel after a hot bath, a warm hug, or a deep, laughter-filled evening with friends. That post-session feeling is often hard to describe — but deeply nourishing.
Some people feel energised afterwards; others feel deeply relaxed and ready to rest. Every session is different, depending on what your body is ready to release. Ideally, give yourself a little time after to let the benefits settle in.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Everyone is different. Some people come for a single issue that resolves quickly; others come to support their ongoing wellbeing over time.
I usually recommend starting with three sessions. This gives your body time to respond and begin shifting. From there, we can decide together what your body needs — some clients come weekly for a short while, others return monthly or as needed for maintenance.
I’ve personally been receiving CST for over 25 years — and still find every session offers something new.
Whether you're holding stress in your body, working through chronic discomfort, or simply need a space to switch off — Craniosacral Therapy offers a calm, nurturing way to reconnect and reset.
